Dear veterans,
On behalf of the Cercle d’Escrime “Les Mousquetaires Cinaciens”, I would like to welcome you to Ciney, which will be the capital of European fencing from 9 to 12 May 2024 during the European Veterans Team Championships.
It is with great pleasure that our club has taken over the organisation of this event, which was due to take place in Brussels in 2020.
Our Committee, our volunteers and our various partners will be doing their utmost to ensure that your stay with us leaves you with unforgettable memories.
We hope that this event will reflect the qualities of our sport, such as respect, self-transcendence and self-control, precision and concentration, all in a festive, friendly and fraternal atmosphere.
We’re keen to demonstrate the hospitality of Belgium and our beautiful region, so we’ll be on hand before and during the competition to answer any questions you may have.
We wish you all an excellent competition.
Alexis Cortes Bueno
Président Mousquetaires Cinaciens
The town of Ciney and its entire population are delighted to be hosting the European Veterans Women’s and Men’s Team Championships in the Condroz capital in May 2024.
The city council will be supporting the Les Mousquetaires club throughout this great sporting event, in particular by providing logistical assistance and a partnership to showcase our beautiful region to participants, coaches and spectators/supporters.
Ciney, a sporting town, offers a wide range of sports for thousands of sportsmen and women aged 7 to 77, from Ciney and neighbouring towns, in a variety of facilities (sports halls, swimming pool, athletics track, multi-sports pitches, etc.).
For more than 5 years, Ciney has been home to a new club, “Les Mousquetaires”, and a discipline that was missing from our very diverse range of activities: fencing.
Over the past 5 years, this friendly and highly dynamic club has established itself as a key partner, both in terms of its quantitative and qualitative sporting development, its competitive and training spirit and its involvement in the community life of our good town of Ciney.
I would like to thank the entire club for making the town of Ciney known throughout Europe and, through this European Championship, for helping people discover even more of Ciney’s many assets.
Sportingly yours
Frédéric Deville
